Healthy Snack Options

It’s always handy to have an idea of healthy snacks that you can reference any time the snacking temptation kicks in. Eating the right foods for your body will support your metabolism and stabilize your mood.

Healthy snacks will keep you energized throughout the day, whilst ensuring you reach your daily nutritional needs.

Craving something sweet

  • Fresh apple slices with nut butter
  • Fresh, whole fruit
  • Dried fruit (avoid products that contain added sugar)
  • Low fat yogurt (dairy free for V) with fresh fruit or gluten free granola
  • Gluten free oats, with a drizzle of raw honey, nut milk and cinnamon
  • A creamy raw cacao and banana smoothie
  • Fruit ice cream (frozen berries, banana, mango)
  • Cold pressed juices
  • Sweet vegetables (sweet potato, butternut)
  • Dates
  • Dark chocolate

Craving something crunchy

  • A fresh apple
  • Frozen berries
  • Home – made GMO free popcorn
  • Raw carrot sticks with nut butter
  • Hummus and seed crackers
  • A handful of nuts

Craving something creamy

  • Home- made smoothie
  • Low fat yogurt (dairy free for V)
  • Avocado
  • Rice or chia seed pudding
  • Vegetable pureed soup (butternut, carrot)
  • Dessert made with silken tofu (vegan cheesecake)
  • Mashed sweet potato
  • Cauliflower mash
  • Coconut milk

Craving something salty

  • Olives (not tinned or stuffed)
  • Pickled vegetables (onion, carrots, cucumber)
  • Tinned fish (tuna, sardines, pilchards)
  • Veggie chips (kale, beetroot, sweet potato)
  • Sauerkraut
  • Tamari sauce
  • Nutritional yeast
  • Salted edamame beans

I usually try to include two small snacks per day, in between meals to keep my energy levels up and hunger bangs at bay.

Sometimes when I am on the go it can be challenging to find the healthiest snacks sources. However, many of the snacks listed above can easily be packed in an airtight container and taken with wherever you may go.
